Mahomet List is a local classifieds board created for the Mahomet, Illinois community. It is designed to help residents and local businesses share items for sale, garage sales, jobs, housing, services, lost and found posts, wanted items, and community listings.

By using Mahomet List, you agree to use good judgment, communicate honestly, and follow these rules and safety guidelines.

Local Use Only

Mahomet List is intended for listings located in Mahomet, Illinois or listings that are directly relevant to the Mahomet community.

Mahomet.com may decline or remove listings that are outside the area, misleading, spammy, inappropriate, unsafe, or not a good fit for the community.

Listings Are Reviewed Before Publishing

All listings are reviewed before they appear publicly on Mahomet.com. We take reasonable efforts to moderate listings and keep the site useful, local, and appropriate.

However, moderation does not mean Mahomet.com verifies every claim, seller, buyer, item, service, price, business, job, rental, or person involved in a listing. Users are responsible for doing their own research and making their own decisions.

Safety Guidelines

Use caution when buying, selling, meeting, hiring, renting, or responding to any listing.

  • Meet in a public, well-lit location whenever possible.
  • Consider meeting at a police station parking lot, public building, or another public area with cameras.
  • Do not meet alone if you feel unsure. Bring another adult with you when appropriate.
  • Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Do not invite strangers into your home unless absolutely necessary.

All communication, meetings, payments, purchases, sales, trades, hiring decisions, rental decisions, and other arrangements are solely between the users involved.

Mahomet.com is not responsible in any way for transactions, communications, payments, item condition, seller claims, buyer claims, service quality, job offers, rental claims, disputes, injuries, losses, damages, scams, fraud, theft, or any other issue that may result from using Mahomet List.

Users participate at their own risk and are responsible for protecting themselves, their property, their money, and their personal information.

Not Intended for Children

Mahomet List is not intended for use by children. Minors should not submit listings, contact sellers, arrange meetings, or participate in transactions without a parent or legal guardian.

Parents and guardians are responsible for the actions, communications, listings, purchases, sales, meetings, and online activity of their children or minors in their care.

Prohibited Listings

Mahomet.com may reject or remove listings at its discretion. Prohibited listings include, but are not limited to:

  • Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives
  • Drugs, controlled substances, or drug-related items
  • Adult content or sexually explicit services
  • Hate speech, harassment, threats, or discriminatory content
  • Scams, misleading offers, fake listings, or deceptive pricing
  • Stolen property or items the poster does not have the right to sell
  • Unsafe, dangerous, or inappropriate content
  • Spam, duplicate posts, or unrelated advertising
  • Listings outside Mahomet or not directly relevant to the Mahomet community

Personal Information

Be careful when sharing personal information. Do not publicly post sensitive information such as your home address, financial information, passwords, identification numbers, or private details you do not want shared.

Use common sense when communicating with other users. If someone asks for unusual personal information or payment before meeting, that may be a warning sign.

Reporting a Listing

If you see a listing that appears suspicious, unsafe, misleading, inappropriate, or outside the purpose of Mahomet List, please contact Mahomet.com so it can be reviewed.

Mahomet.com may remove listings or restrict access at its discretion, with or without notice.
